The Spurs have had a down season this campaign, but hope to end it on a high note as we are near the closing stages of the regular season. In fact, both teams are in the same boat as Austin has already been eliminated from playoff contention while Greensboro is nearing that fate with every loss. Both teams will be hungry and motivated to get another W as this should be an intriguing matchup in Cedar Park, Texas.

Austin Spurs Preview

With the Spurs being officially eliminated from playoff contention, the next few games will be more about getting quality minutes than the actual wins and losses. It has been an underwhelming season for the San Antonio Spurs affiliate, but with an ever-revolving door of roster moves and changes, it has been difficult for Austin to get into a consistent rhythm this year. However, with the pressures of trying to reach a playoff position off their shoulders, maybe this could be the start of Austin playing their best basketball all year.

In the recent loss to the Memphis Hustle, Jordan Murphy was the real threat on the night with 21 points and eight rebounds at the center position. Murphy has been in and out of the lineup this season but shows attacking promise. Jordan Hall racked up yet another double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds and also helped set up his teammates with five assists. Brandon Randolph has been an underrated pickup and got 15 points and is a really steady eddy in the backcourt.

These next few games will hopefully allow for more rotation in the lineups and for some of the regular starters to get some rest after a very tough season.

Greensboro Swarm Preview

An unfamiliar opponent will visit the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park in the Charlotte Hornets affiliate. While being in different conferences, both teams have a very common trait in that they are both near the bottom of the league. The Swarm have been struggling this season and will hope to end their Texas roundtrip on a high note as they visit the Austin area.

James Bouknight is a real threat in the backcourt of the Swarm as he dropped 15 points and 12 rebounds in the loss to Rio Grande Valley on March 8th. Trevon Scott also had 20 points and seven rebounds and could give the Spurs trouble in the post. Theo Maledon will get a lot of minutes off the bench and is a real sixth man for Greensboro.

The Swarm has no issues putting up points, but their defensive stats are not up to par. Both teams are similar in that they want to hit in transition and try and outpace teams. It should be a really fun and intense matchup between two teams from different conferences.
