The Austin Spurs are looking to avoid losing three consecutive games. They have a rematch from early November with the Memphis Hustle. After a tough 113-98 loss at the hands of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the Spurs are hoping to obtain a W in order to regain some momentum. The offense has been struggling recently. Without one of the main performers in Alize Johnson, Austin has to find ways to create offensive production. They will hope to give the home fans something to cheer about.

Austin Spurs Preview

The Spurs were handed a resounding 113-98 loss to RGV on December 1st, in which the now 7-3 Vipers showed why they are one of the best squads in the G-League. Austin did have a welcomed sight in Charles Bassey, who was the leading scorer with 21 points and 13 rebounds, showing he is in the mood to dominate the G-League once again. Chaundee Brown Jr. continues to put up good performances with a 18 point and seven rebounds.

He has really helped pick up the slack in terms of scoring points, and with the resurgence of Bassey to the roster, Austin will hope they can regain the offense they had at the beginning of the season. The issue has again been the defensive side of the ball. It was yet another game in which they gave up over 100 points, which is a common theme in the G-League this season. If the Spurs can improve on this part of the team, they will be able to get better results in the win and loss column.

Memphis Hustle Preview

The Hustle are coming off the back of a 120-113 win over the Austin rival Texas Legends. Memphis has had a decent start to the season so far, and will be hoping to use their widespread offensive production in order to beat the Spurs. The big thing that Memphis does is get around the same amount of production from multiple members of the team. During the win vs. Texas, Memphis had seven players in double digit points, led by Matt Hurt who had 22 off the bench.

This has been the recipe for success for the Hustle, as they would love for this equal contribution to continue against Austin. Justin Bean had a monster game as well, with 17 points and 14 rebounds. He will a handful for defenders as he looks like a dominant player at the power forward position.

This will be another tough matchup in an already tough start to the season for the Spurs. This would be a big change to the season if they can get a win vs. the Hustle. It is still early, but a win here could hopefully get Austin firing on all cylinders.
