Austin Spurs Preview

Against the best team in the G-League in the Western Conference leading Stockton Kings, the Spurs struggled to keep the game close toward the end of the game. It was a really competitive matchup in the first half, something that has been a trend of sorts for Austin this season.

Blake Wesley was a big part of it as he had 29 points to lead the team in scoring. Wesley has begun to play with much more confidence, and the rookie out of Notre Dame is beginning to find his stride on both the NBA and G-League levels. Dominick Barlow also had a decent night with 16 points and six rebounds and has been a player who has been performing well under the radar. Charles Bassey nearly got another double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds, and Tommy Kuhse had 12 points off the bench.

One of the key issues that the Spurs are having is that they need to have complete performances from a team perspective. In order to beat high-quality teams, you do need to have players having 25+ points, but also need more output from the rest of the squad. If Austin can get more players involved and register double-digit points while also improving the defensive side of things, this will be a team that can cause a lot of upsets.

Ontario Clippers Preview

The Clippers as stated are sitting at a 6-4 record and are in the running for a playoff position. This is a team that plays really good defense and prides itself on causing disruptions for offenses around the league. Former UTSA Roadrunner Keaton Wallace is on the roster and had 12 points and 2 steals in their last game vs. Motor City.

Jason Preston was the leading scorer on the night with 21 points and four assists and is a consistent scorer for Ontario. Xavier Moon also had 14 points and seven rebounds off the bench and looks to be a real game-changer. There is no doubt that this squad has talent and grit, and poses a tough task for Austin to handle.

However, with the season getting towards the nitty-gritty, Austin knows they have to step up and start picking up some victories.
