Austin Spurs Getting Some Ridiculous Love

After the Austin Spurs season cam to end, reflecting backing on the season that was comes naturally.  Along with these reflections come the post season awards.  Many websites have their own awards that they give out.

Our colleagues over at Ridiculous Upside have handed out their own post season awards and the Austin Spurs own Bryce Cotton & Kyle Anderson both have made the cut.

Kyle Anderson’s progress this season was recognized by earning the nod for the NBA D-League All-Assignee Team.  Anderson showed his all around game this season by being

“One of just three minor leaguers to rank in the top 25 league-leaders for both steals and blocks, the forward averaged 21.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, 4.8 assists, nearly 2 steals, and 1.5 blocks through twenty-six games.”

Anderson gave the Spurs 1.5 blocks and 2 steals to go along with season stats mentioned above. Anderson also took good care of the ball with an assist to turnover ratio of almost 1.5.

Anderson’s progress during the season resulted in multiple call up to the San Antonio Spurs.  Although Anderson didn’t make the Spurs squad for the NBA Playoffs, he is enjoying the continued success in the NBA D-League Playoffs as well.

Bryce Cotton all around offensive game helped earn him the nod for not only the NBA D-League All Rookie Team but the All D-League 2nd Team as well.

“With Austin, Cotton averaged 22.4 points on 47% from the field, 45% from the perimeter and 90% from the charity stripe. Although he wasn’t the finest distributor in the league, as he averaged 4.6 assists per game”

Cotton’s play helped the Spurs to a 25-9 record while he was with the team.

While the post season recognition is nice, Bryce Cotton got the ultimate reward at the end of the season.  His play impressed the Utah Jazz enough that after they called him up on February 23rd, they signed him to a multi-year deal with the Jazz.

So Spurs’ fans, do you think Kyle Anderson will be following a similar path to Bryce Cotton next season?
