Austin Spurs Preview

When a team loses a close game, especially in overtime, it can be a tough pill to swallow, no matter what level you are on. With a competitive group of players and coaches, Austin will look to get the sour taste out of their mouths and try and get a somewhat shocking win against one of the best teams in the league.

There were some bright spots in the tight loss, including forward Jordan Hall, who had 33 points and 12 rebounds. Hall shot 9-for-12 from three-point range and Chaundee Brown Jr. also had another stellar performance with 22 points, three rebounds, and three assists. The offense was firing on all cylinders on Friday night, but it was not enough to top a talented Memphis Hustle squad. The big talking point, as it has been all season, is the lack of defensive quality that has been taking place so far this season.

This is something that can be easily improved on, with a group of talented individuals who can come together and make stops. If the Spurs can improve this, they can beat any team in the G-League, regardless of who is on the other side.

Rio Grande Valley Vipers Preview

The Vipers have been red-hot in this recent stretch and had a big 114-107 win against the Lakeland Magic. Willey Cauley-Stein had another double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds while TyTy Washington Jr. continues to impress with 25 points. This is a team that has a lot of talent in all three areas of the court and has already given Austin problems in the first matchup. Washington Jr. has been the best player so far this season for RGV, and gives the Vipers a dynamic playmaker at the guard position. He is a player that can hurt you from all three levels of the court as well, and will look to punish Austin from three-point range.

Another difficult game for the Spurs has approached us, but if Austin can limit the play from Washington, Cauley-Stein and others, they have a real chance of getting a surprise victory in this game.
