The NBA D-League announced today that Ken McDonald and the rest of the Austin Spurs coaching staff will have the honor of coaching the D-League’s Western Conference All-Stars.
The 2016 NBA Development League All-Star Game presented by Kumho Tire will take place on Saturday, February 13th, as part of the NBA All-Star lineup for the 10th consecutive season.
McDonald is in his fourth season with the Austin Spurs and his third as head coach. In 24 games this season, McDonald has guided Austin to a conference best 16-8 record, with an ever-changing roster that has included two Gatorade Call-Ups this season in Jarell Eddie (Washington Wizards) and Bryce Cotton (Phoenix Suns). McDonald is 67-57 all-time as head coach of the Austin Spurs and recently signed a contract extension to stay with the club back in July.
Along with McDonald, Sioux Falls Skyforce head coach Dan Craig and his staff will coach the Eastern Conference D-League All-Stars. Craig has led the Skyforce to a league best 21-4 record en route to capturing the D-League Showcase Championship and the best 25-game start in Development League history.
The coaches were selected by having the best record in their respective conferences through games played on January 24th.
The 2016 NBA Development League All-Star Game will feature the league’s top 24 prospects as voted on by the coaches. The game will be aired live on NBA TV and NBA TV Canada at 2:00 p.m. ET from Toronto’s Ricoh Coliseum.
