AUSTIN – The Austin Spurs announced the names of 14 players who will be with the team to start training camp.
Included on the list are returning players Demetri McCamey and Jarell Eddie, along with San Antonio Spurs training camp invites Patricio Garino, Livio Jean-Charles and Ryan Arcidiacono.
The full list of players is below:
Garino, Jean-Charles and Arcidiacono join the team after being released by San Antonio after training camp. D-League rules allow an NBA club to assign up to four players from their camp roster to a Development League team and designate them as “affiliate” players. On the plus side, the players can stay within the organization and continue to develop, but on the down side players sign contracts in the D-League, meaning they’re technically free agents that can be signed by any of the 30 NBA teams.
In addition, Jarell Eddie and Demetri McCamey return to Austin after stints with the club last year.
Eddie has spent part of the last two seasons in Austin, most recently playing 11 games for the Spurs during the 2016 season, before getting called up by the Washington Wizards. Eddie appeared in just 26 games with Washington averaging 2.4 points and 0.9 rebounds in under six minutes per game.
Meanwhile, McCamey will begin his second season in Austin and third overall season in the D-League. As a member of the Spurs, McCamey appeared in 49 games for the silver and black, starting in eight of them. He averaged 9.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 25 minutes per game in Austin.
The Austin Spurs began training camp yesterday at the San Antonio Spurs practice facility, but will move camp to the Cedar Park Recreation Center after Friday’s practice.
