AUSTIN – The Austin Spurs announced yesterday that they have acquired guard Orlando Johnson.

From the press release:

Johnson most recently played in Russia for UNICS Kazan, where he averaged 15.9 points and 3.8 rebounds in eight VTB United League games.  Johnson also made 15 Euroleague appearances, averaging 7.6 points and 2.2 rebounds.

He was first acquired by the Austin Spurs in December 2014 where he averaged 17.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 43 games. During the 2015-16 season with the Spurs, Johnson received two GATORADE Call-Ups, first with the Phoenix Suns and second with the New Orleans Pelicans.  Johnson was also named a member of the 2016 NBA D-League All-Star West team. For the season, he averaged 15.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 30 games.

Johnson also spent a solid amount of time this preseason with the Milwaukee Bucks before being waived after five games. He averaged 4.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 15 minutes per game.

The addition of Johnson comes on the heels of Hollis Thompson’s call up to the New Orleans Pelicans, where he’s still on a 10-day contract.

Johnson will wear #1 for the silver and black as they take on the Long Island Nets tonight at 7:30 p.m. from the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.
