Austin Spurs Acquire Trey Gilder

1

The Austin Spurs announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Trey Gilder.

The 30-year-old from Dallas last “played” in the NBA in 2012, as part of the Miami Heat summer league team. He was also part of the Utah Jazz organization in 2011 and 2012, failing to make the final roster both times.

However, Gilder’s playing experience in various leagues is extensive. Especially in the last year. Via USBasket.com

Gilder managed to play in three leagues last year (!!!). He played in the summer at Trotamundos in Venezuelan LPB league, but was released by the team in May’14. In three LPB games he recorded 4.7ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.0apg. The last season he played at Halcones UV Xalapa (LNBP) in Mexican league. In 9 games he averaged 11.8ppg, 4.9rpg and 1.9apg. Gilder also played 4 games in Liga Americas where he averaged 10.0ppg, 4.0rpg, 2.0apg and 1.0spg.

His team made it to the Mexican LNBP Semifinals.

This news comes after a report from Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports that the San Antonio Spurs and JaMychal Green couldn’t come to terms on a second 10-day contract, so both parties will part ways at the end of his 10-day deal.

It seems as if the Gilder move is a safety net for the Austin Spurs, as many anticipate JaMychal Green to catch on elsewhere at the end of his 10-days in San Antonio.

The San Antonio Spurs also announced today that they have signed Oklahoma City Blue guard/forward, Reggie Williams, to a 10-day contract. The move brings the SAS roster to 15, which means Kyle Anderson won’t be making the drive down I-35 any time soon.

So to recap:
Trey Gilder to the Austin Spurs
JaMychal Green to ?
Reggie Williams to the San Antonio Spurs
