Austin Spurs Preview

Austin improved their season record to 3-2 with a big win in overtime vs. the Memphis Hustle on Tuesday night. The big star of the night was Alize Johnson. He tallied twenty-seven points off the bench. There was also plenty of support from different areas. Tommy Kuhse had 14 points and seven rebounds. Jordan Murphy was able to put up 11 points and 12 rebounds. Austin has really been able to replace Charles Bassey’s offensive input by combining many different players to produce the same if not better statistics.

Another key for Austin to continue the winning streak is better defensive performances. There were five players who had two steals each. With defense being a top priority in the Spurs organization, it is good to see that the G-League squad is becoming a more organized unit. With the amount of offense that the squad produces added to good defense, this will be a very good squad as the season progresses.

Even though Birmingham is winless, the Spurs cannot take the Squadron lightly. It will be a tough, physical matchup that may end up being a close matchup.

Birmingham Squadron Preview

Birmingham has gotten off to a rough start so far in this 2022-23 NBA G-League season. Including a 131-128 loss to Lakeland in their last game. Despite the great play of guards Javonte Smart and Dereon Seabron, Birmingham still fell short of victory. Both guards combined for 51 points in the loss, showing the scoring capabilities Birmingham has in the backcourt, and with a rebounding machine in Zylan Cheatham, Birmingham will not be a pushover. They are hungry for their first victory of the season and will be looking to cause an upset over an Austin team that has some momentum building.

If Birmingham can get the combo of Seabron and Smart clicking, Austin could have a very tough time defending the two stars. This game will be a cagey and tight affair, but it should be a very entertaining watch for viewers.
