As Spurs training camp nears, Tony Parker admits he’s ‘very tired’

As Sir Isaac Newton told us a while back, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Although Mr. Newton findings were not intended for the NBA, the San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker is finding himself agreeing with the world renowned physicist and mathematician.

After Parker reportedly is to sit out the 2014 Basketball World Cup due to a long summer which had him playing in the 2013 NBA Finals then with Team France for EuroBasket 2013, it appears the lengthy time on the court has caught up with him.

According to French website Catch-and-Shoot, Parker admits he is exhausted.

"It was very hard for me physically. I am very tired now. It's been a long season, so it's hard for me to say if I would play next year. "

With this information coming so close to the start of training camp, the Spurs are forced into a glass half full set of mind.

The plan could be in place to limit the minutes of Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Parker again this year, which is not anything new.

With this admission by Parker of fatigue, Parker’s minutes more than likely will be very limited in the pre-season and during the first month of the season, which will yield a lot of minutes for Nando De Colo, Patty Mills and Cory Joseph.

Hopefully the trio will seize the opportunity to not only earn coach Gregg Popovich’s trust with consistent play on both ends of the floor but more importantly allow Parker to rest an extended amount of time.

However, this scenario is what Spurs fans and perhaps coaching staff did not want to hear. The Spurs go as Parker goes and if he is admitting exhaustion, the Spurs could come out of the gate a bit slowly once the new season kicks off.

Parker may be the youngest of "The Big 3" but he isn't a spring chicken. He is 31-years old, amassed a ton of mileage on his legs this summer, and if the long summer catches up with him at the wrong time – like the NBA postseason – then San Antonio may be coming up short again in their quest for title number five.
