Former Austin Spurs point guard Ryan Arcidiacono has joined JuveCaserta Basket of Italy’s Lega Basket Serie A, according to the team’s official website.

Arcidiacono’s contract contains an NBA escape clause.

Team president Raffaele Iavazzi said in the statement that it was his “personal dream” to sign Arcidiacono, revealing that he attempted to sign the former Villanova guard last year before Arcidiacono opted to join the San Antonio Spurs in summer league and training camp.

Arcidiacono was waived by San Antonio after three preseason games, eventually signing with the Austin Spurs.

The 6-foot-3 guard played in 47 games for Austin last season, averaging 6.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 28 minutes per game while shooting 42 percent on 3-pointers.

Arcidiacono will now join fellow G-League alum Raphiael Putney and former San Antonio Spurs forward Linton Johnson as they attempt to restore JuveCaserta’s winning ways. The club went 12-18 last season, finishing in 13th place, but avoided relegation to Serie B.
