Anderson And Spurs Fall Short Versus Blue

Kyle Anderson recorded his third straight double-double for the Spurs, but it wasn’t enough, as the Spurs fell to the Oklahoma City Blue, 130-117. It was the second game for the Spurs since the D-League Showcase and second straight loss.

Leading the way for the Spurs was rookie Kyle Anderson with 22 points, 13 assists and four rebounds in 46 minutes of action. Jarell Eddie and Erik Murphy added 23 and 19 points respectively for the silver and black.

For the Oklahoma City Blue, Talib Zanna and Semaj Christon both double-doubled for the Thunder’s D-League affiliate. Zanna had 15 points and 15 rebounds, while Christon put up 20 points and 10 rebounds. Marquis Teague added 20 points of his own for the Blue.

The Spurs slow start was their biggest issue on Saturday night. After being down nine points to end the first quarter, the Blue used a 16-2 run midway through the second quarter to jump out to a 25 point lead at halftime. Austin would ramp up the pace in the second half, scoring 72 points in the final two quarters, but it wouldn’t be enough to complete the comeback, thanks to the hot shooting by Josh Huestis for the Blue.

Up next for the Austin Spurs (16-9), they’ll try to get a winning streak started up…on a Tuesday, versus the Idaho Stampede (4-22). Tipoff is at 9 PM Eastern time from CenturyLink Arena.
