Supercross Anaheim 450 Preview

Entering the fourth round of the 2023 AMA Supercross Championship season, the action returns to Angel Stadium. When the season kicked off just three weeks ago, Tomac and Lawrence both reached the top of the podium, something they have continued to do. As the organization’s website notes on this second go around, however, the return is a bit more challenging.

“The main difference between Anaheim 1 and Anaheim 2,” racer Scott Roczen is quoted saying, “is the dirt usually gets drier for the second race… And the weather can come into play, too, so it makes it interesting for us.”

Roczen and the other racers won’t have the benefit of the weather keeping the dirt down as rain isn’t expected until Sunday. With the wind not expected to be a factor either, the only thing kicking up dirt will be the bikes. Roczen finished in fifth place in the season opener in Anaheim.

He improved that position last weekend in San Diego with a fourth-place finish, giving him his current spot in the standings. Tomac and Cooper Webb are riding well right now, so Roczen needs a strong weekend to catch them. He took first place on the track in Round 1 just last January, so he knows what it takes.
