Alonzo GeeThe Toros franchise has seen some very talented players come through their system, so we though we’d highlight the top five players to wear a toros uniform, in no particular order.

The Toros have has a variety of talented players, but one of the best with the most potential would have to be Alonzo Gee.

Gee went to Dwyer High School in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida where he played basketball all four years. He then attended the University of Alabama and played from the time he was a freshman till he graduated. In total he started well over 70 games while in attendance at the University.

Gee started his Toros career in 2009 and immediately turned heads on the court. In his first season alone, he went from being a little known player to the D-League’s Rookie of the Year for the 09-10 season scoring 21.3 points to go along with 7.6 rebounds per game.

In March of 2010, he started his NBA career with the Washington Wizards on a 10-day contract. After his impressive performance that included scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds, he was signed to another 10-day contract where he started in a game and racked up another 19 points for the Wizards. After seeing the talent they had in their own backyard enjoying some success with the Wizards, the Spurs offered Gee some security in a longer contract, and later sent him back to the Toros.

As you can tell Gee is going to be a great asset to any team that gives him playing time and time to continue to develop. His athleticism, ability to bring in rebounds, NBA experience, and consistent scoring totals show the potential of great things to come and how essential he will be.

While he didn’t work out for the Spurs, he’s seen some success and an increase in minutes since the Wizards scooped him back up.
