Alabama vs Memphis Basketball: Start Time, Live Stream, Preview for a Tuesday’s Game

The top-10 Alabama Crimson Tide head to Memphis for what should have been a game between two top-10 teams. The Tigers have struggled out of the gate as they’ve dropped their last four games to some surprising teams. They should be desperate for a win in this game.

The Crimson Tide are coming off wins against Gonzaga and Houston, with the latter being a dramatic one. Alabama can’t get caught in a trap game mentality as Memphis has talent, but has had issues figuring out the egos on the team.

The Tigers average the most turnovers per game in all of Division I basketball at almost 19 a game. Alabama turns teams over about 13 times a game so that is not going to be a recipe for a win if you are Memphis. They have to control the turnovers, especially the live ones as Alabama will get out in transition and get easy buckets out of them. The Tigers turn over other teams at a rate of about 17 times a game too so ball control is everything in this game.

Neither team shoots particularly well from the free throw line, but both teams are nearly identical in shooting percentage from beyond the arc. However, Alabama holds a slight edge in shooting inside the arc, being about six percentage points better there. Alabama also makes about five more shots per game than Memphis so limiting the Crimson Tide opportunities will be big.

It’s possible this game could come down to rebounding as well. Alabama is a top-20 team in total rebounding while Memphis is ranked 65th in the same category. They don’t finish off defensive possessions very well despite having a ton of size and that has been one of their biggest issues so far this season.
