The San Antonio Spurs (0-0) will kick off their season opener tonight in San Antonio as they host the Memphis Grizzlies (0-0).
The Spurs will be looking for redemption this new season after losing in the NBA Finals in Game 7 to the Heat. With new additions such as Marco Belinelli, and Jeff Ayres, the Spurs will look to once again capture title No. 5.
The Grizzlies remained relatively in tact only adding former player Mike Miller, Kosta Koufos from Denver and Nick Calathes. Memphis still boasts a formidable duo in the paint – Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph – and guard Mike Conley rounds out the team's core. New head coach Dave Joerger will do what it takes to ensure Memphis remains one of the best in the West.
And as the Spurs take their first steps back to the NBA Finals, here are five things to watch for during tonight's game.
• Tony Parker averaged a team-best 25.5 points versus Memphis last season.
• The Grizzlies have lost all 12 of their season openers since relocating to Memphis and are 2‐16 overall on opening night.
• Memphis’ last victory in San Antonio – regular season or postseason – came in Game 1 of the opening round of the 2011 NBA Playoffs.
• The Grizzlies have gone 40‐4 over the last two seasons when scoring at least 100 points.
