Video: Kawhi Leonard praises Spurs coach Chip Engelland

San Antonio Spurs’ Kawhi Leonard and other NBA players won’t suit up for an exhibition game in Manila after the NBA came down hard on the event, but while he was there, Leonard spoke highly of Spurs assistant coach Chip Engelland.

Chip has done wonders for NBA players looking to improve their outside shot. Noted as one of the best shooting coaches in the league, Chip has worked with the likes of Steve Kerr, Tony Parker and Leonard.

Coming into the NBA, Leonard was not known for his outside shooting, but time with Engelland has done wonders for his shooting touch, and while in the Philippines, he had nothing but praise for Chip. (more…)

Video: Kawhi Leonard hams it up during Filipino TV show

San Antonio Spurs’ Kawhi Leonard will be taking part in a charity game against the Philippine national men’s basketball team as a tune up for Team Philippines before the 2014 FIBA World Cup tournament later this summer in Spain. Leonard will be joined by other NBA stars such as Damian Lillard, Terrence Ross, Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan for the July 22 to 23 games at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Manila.

To promote the game, Leonard was a guest (along with other NBA notable players) on a Filipino TV show where he spoke to the crowd, thanked them for their support and in a very un-Kawhi Leonard way, hammed it up for the crowd a bit when he took the mic and tried to get the crowd involved. (more…)
