Spurscast 359: All Out of Bubblegum

The San Antonio Spurs are crushing teams and the last innocence of the human spirit. With only three games remaining in the regular season, the timing couldn’t be any better. But despite the incredible March/April run made by the defending the champs, home court might not be an option for the repeat title run. Still residing in the sixth spot, the Spurs are just a half game back from the second seed but will need assistance to get past tie-breakers to secure a higher seed.

Spurs keep winning streak alive, ground Rockets 110-98

AT&T CENTER – The San Antonio Spurs (53-26) extended their winning streak to nine games as they defeated the Houston Rockets 110-98 behind Tony Parker’s 27 point outburst.

However, the Spurs did not start out looking like winners of eight straight.  In the first quarter, the Spurs’ defense allowed Houston to score 33 points while Kawhi Leonard sputtered only scoring two points off 1-4 shooting. However, the second quarter would be the turning point of the game as San Antonio went on a 16-2 run to close out the first half.

The second half the Spurs continued to extend their lead as Leonard woke up scoring 14 points while Parker dropped in 10 points. The Spurs’ defense also contained Houston’s James Harden to 22 points.

Halftime Spurscast: Spurs 57, Rockets 53

AT&T CENTER – It’s halftime and the San Antonio Spurs are leading the Houston Rockets 57-53.

The Spurs are being led by Tony Parker’s 17 points while Boris Diaw has nine points off the bench. Houston is being led by James Harden’s 15 points.

The Spurs has a 16-2 run to close out the second quarter to take the lead after being down as many as nine points versus the Rockets.
