Video: Questionable foul calls against Spurs vs. Rockets

Rockets fans may be up in arms about San Antonio Spurs forward Tim Duncan’s block on James Harden, calling it a foul (even though the NBA ruled it wasn’t) but Spurs fans may have the bigger gripe with the way the refs were calling fouls on the silver and black.

When is being hit with a shoulder from Dwight Howard while going for a rebound a foul? And when is trying to deny the ball a foul on Duncan?

Check out some of the more questionable calls the refs made against San Antonio last night (especially against Aron Baynes) peppered with the over-the-top commentary from the Rockets TV announcers. (more…)

Listen to Rockets TV announcers claim Tim Duncan fouled James Harden

It was the block heard around the state of Texas as San Antonio Spurs forward Tim Duncan blocked Houston Rockets guard James Harden’s game-winning layup attempt with seconds left in the game. With the win, the Spurs propelled themselves to the third spot in the West playoff picture and with the loss, the Rockets fell to sixth place.

However, the Duncan game-saving block wasn’t without its naysayers, most notably from the Rockets’ broadcast team of Clyde Drexler, Matt Bullard and Bill Worrell.

Upon replay, Drexler claims Duncan fouled Harden on the arm and didn’t get the ball at all while Worrell agreed saying Duncan hammered the MVP candidate. (more…)

Spurscast 359: All Out of Bubblegum

The San Antonio Spurs are crushing teams and the last innocence of the human spirit. With only three games remaining in the regular season, the timing couldn’t be any better. But despite the incredible March/April run made by the defending the champs, home court might not be an option for the repeat title run. Still residing in the sixth spot, the Spurs are just a half game back from the second seed but will need assistance to get past tie-breakers to secure a higher seed.
