Spurscast 371: To Ball or Not to Ball

Tony Parker, Boris Diaw, Kawhi Leonard, and Patty Mills are representing their country on some level this summer. Kawhi just completed a mini-camp with Team USA and Mills was a late addition to Team Australia for their participation in the Oceania Series. Parker and Diaw, to no one’s surprise, are getting set to led Team France in yet another Eurobasket tournament. The San Antonio Spurs are no stranger to being globe-trotters but there is a growing concern among Spurs fans, as well as NBA executives, that national play is more risk than profit. Fans outside of the United States are lashing back at this notion. There is disdain in Serbia because their countryman, Boban Marjanovic, was held back by San Antonio from international play this summer. Argentina fired the same furor towards the Spurs last year when Manu Ginobili was denied from partaking in the FIBA World Cup 2014. With the NBA brand exploding across the globe, is a step-back from the international scene a serious debate?
