Still Feel Confident Spurs Fans?

After last night’s ass kicking by the Hornets on the Spurs, should Spurs fans feel confident going into game 6? F%*K NO!
The Spurs looked uninspired all game long. This should sum it up for you if you didn’t see the game. . . 11 points in the 3rd quarter! 11 freaking points by your defending NBA Champs! More like NBA Chumps!
The Hornets played like they had a gun to their head and it showed. They played awesome D, showed a killer instinct, and David freaking West just annihilated the Spurs even with a bad back! Chris Paul only diced up the Spurs D in the second half and the Spurs again fell into their 3 quarter meltdowns. This team can’t even weather the Hornet storm in the 3 quarters!
So who is to blame? Tim Duncan and his piss poor performance? Tony Parker for letting the refs get to him? The supposed “best bench the Spurs ever had”? Coach Pop? I say every friggin’ one of them! Pop shoulders this one more in my opinion. He knows they have the second-half blues in New Orleans and he didn’t prep this team and draw up some plan to fix this. This 3rd quarter meltdown by the Spurs is not just a one time thing. This is an epidemic! And Pop did not do anything to fix this problem. Case in point, last night’s game. . . for the 3 quarter, they were 5-for-18 from the floor with four turnovers. Way to go Spurs.
There is no excuse for this team to lose like that to New Orleans! Even if they win tomorrow and force a game 7 guess what?!? Game 7 is in New Orleans or like those NBA commericals go “New Orleans, where the Spurs get ass-raped in the third quarter.”

I’ve said since the beginning of the playoffs that New Orleans is the only team that scares me, I rest my case. This will still be a seven game series, but that last game in New Orleans will have to be a fight to the death to advance onto the conference finals.
I’d like to know just one thing, is there anybody without the initials T.D. that knows how to GRAB a rebound, much less BOX OUT?
Talk smack about the Spurs for all I care. That is, only if you underestimate the intensity of the Spurs. Of course, the 3rd quarter is a killer for the Spurs, but if they can pace themselves in the 3rd quarter when the Hornet’s D kills, then they should be fine. Also, the Hornets have some hustle. TD is doing all the dirty work for the Spurs. If the Spurs lineup and bench back him a bit more, then things will happen. Remember Game 7 of the 2006 Conference Semifinals against Dallas. They fell into a 25-point hole early in the game. And what do the Spurs do? They make the hustle plays and get a momentum, finally ending with Manu Ginobili’s 3-pointer with 32.2 sec remaining, giving the Spurs a 3-point lead. Then Manu just HAD…HAD to foul Nowitzki, which he later finished the 3-point play to tie it at 104. If Spurs play with that kind of energy, they might end up winning.
GO SPURS!!!!!!! *crowd noise*
Thanks for agreeing with me Sam.
You admit the 3rd is a killer, admit the Hornets are playing D, admit the bench for the Spurs is not showing up, and you are saying “IF” they play with energy.
Sounds to me a lot has to happen for the Spurs to win. Knowing the Spurs have a problem in the 3Q, where is your coaching staff? Exactly NO WHERE!
Hornets fan here *waves*
The Hornets have been a 2nd half team all year. That our strength matches up with the Spurs weakness is just good fortume for us, I guess. I think there is decent chance for us to take the game tonight, but its not a good chance. Home court seems to have magical powers this year. That said, if it goes to game 7, I think we will take that one with a degree of confidence.
I said this on another Spurs blog, but I’ll say it here too. Apologies for not giving Horry big props for breaking the post-season record. Its wasnt an intentional slight on our behalf. Considering how our blood was up, he could have gotten the Metal of Honor and we wouldnt have noticed that night.
