According to reports out of Dallas last night and today, former Spurs guard and Mavericks head coach Avery Johnson will be named Coach of the Year. Avery truly has done a great job with the Mavs since he took over last season.
Jeff, Mike and I didn’t pick him as our Coach of the Year in our season review podcast and on ProjectSpurs.com, but we all had him as a candidate and he definitley earned it.
Johnson, in his first full season as Dallas’ head coach, led the Mavs to a 60-22 record this season and set the record for best coaching start in NBA history after 82 games.
