Bonner’s legacy in San Antonio and of course a goofy question

We all know that San Antonio Spurs’ Matt Bonner is a pretty interesting and funny dude, but what you probably didn’t know is that his tenure in San Antonio makes him a part of the “Big Four.” He is the fourth-longest tenured member of the team after Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker. Bonner ranks […]

For Popovich, statistics can help, but don’t always tell the proper story

AT&T CENTER – In writing the ‘Building the Machine: Volume 7’ analysis piece this past week, I noticed that in one area where the San Antonio Spurs weren’t improving much this season was in defending corner 3-pointers, as opponents were shooting 38.6% after 70 games this season from that area, which ranked 17th in the […]

Tim Duncan makes bet, but could he be in trouble?

By now, we’ve all seen the three-pointer San Antonio Spurs’ Tim Duncan made against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night. It is rare for the five-time champion to hit a shot from downtown, but it turns out Duncan had a little money on the attempt. According to his girlfriend, Duncan bet an old college […]

What’s Behind the Spurs’ Late-Season Push?

After the San Antonio Spurs’ 130-91 win against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday, fans began to share a similar thought: this team looks eerily similar to the one that ran roughshod through last year’s NBA playoffs en route to a title. There was crisp passing. There was deadly outside shooting. There were quick defensive rotations. And it […]

Tim Duncan has nothing but love for Mavs’ Nowitzki

Love is often described as patient and kind, but for Spurs power forward Tim Duncan, love for another player “goes out the window” when he’s on the court. The San Antonio Spurs took on the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday in a 101-94 loss to their Texas rivals, but before the game Duncan told the Dallas […]

Spurscast 357: Two-Face

Two impressive performances versus the Atlanta Hawks and Oklahoma City Thunder. Two equally embarrassing loses against the New York Knicks and Dallas Mavericks.

The 2014-2015 season for the San Antonio Spurs has been one of narratives. At first it was the question of effort and then it was the plague of injuries that essentially left Tim Duncan by his lonesome. The start of the new year was focused on chemistry and then whether or not Tony Parker was ready to be put out to pasture. And though the Spurs have recently churned out some incredible games, the new topic now is centered around the notion of consistency – or rather the lack thereof. With only eleven games remaining in the regular season, are the wild spikes of performances here to stay or is there another narrative around the corner?

The reported ACL tear was to his right knee and it occurred as he was driving to the lane. What makes this injury so severe is that […]

GQ pokes fun at Tim Duncan’s ‘baggy dad jeans’

Look, San Antonio Spurs’ Tim Duncan has never been known for his off the court fashion. If it was up to him, he’d be on the sidelines wearing a tee-shirt, jeans and flip-flops instead of the required blazer. And it is because of Duncan’s lack of attention to looking good in the latest threads (unlike other […]
