Ellis fuels Mavs past depleted Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs played five games in seven days, including two consecutive triple overtime games this week, the week from hell in other words. It is what some have called the toughest stretch for the Silver and Black in recent memory. It came to an end on Saturday night, but not without a tough […]

About A Loss: Spurs 119, Trail Blazers 129 in Triple-Overtime

AT&T CENTER – “I’m proud of the whole team and what they’ve done,” said San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich Friday evening, after his team fell for a second straight game in triple-overtime, but this time to the Portland Trail Blazers 129-119. “It’s a different group every night,” continued Popovich. “It would almost be […]

(Audio) Spurs vs. Portland Pregame Report: Leonard, Parker, Batum, Lopez out

AT&T CENTER – After falling in their last two games, the San Antonio Spurs (17-9) are looking to rebound with a win Friday evening against the visiting Portland Trail Blazers (20-6). Both teams will be without some of their core players, as Tony Parker (left hamstring) and Kawhi Leonard (right hand) will be out for San Antonio, while Robin Lopez (right hand fracture) and Nicolas Batum (right wrist/left knee) will be out for Portland.

After Wednesday’s triple-overtime thriller between the Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies, Popovich confirmed that Tim Duncan and the rest of the group is expected to play, despite the increase of minutes most of the core players played on Wednesday.

In the audio pregame report, I spoke about some of the key topics from Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich’s pregame media session, including the latest on Leonard and Parker’s injuries, Popovich’s “no thoughts” comment on the Rajon Rondo trade, and I also spoke with a few players like Kyle Anderson on his post play and Tiago Splitter, on how his calf is feeling thus far.

Rajon Rondo trade may spell trouble for Spurs

To Kobe Bryant, “he’s an a—hole, like me.” To Chandler Parsons he’s a “difference-maker.” To Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, the recently acquired four-time all-star point guard Rajon Rondo is the “intense” factor that the Mavericks need to seriously contend for dominance in the West. The trade that took Rondo from the Celtics, the team […]

Spurscast 347: Checking it Twice…

Happy Holidays to you and yours! Have you been good this year? The San Antonio Spurs have… sorta. San Antonio, currently sitting at 17-9, is still reeling from their fourth loss within their previous six games. Some healthy players would be great but the Spurs better hope Santa delivers on some much needed passion.

The remainder of the 2014 schedule for San Antonio is a gauntlet of doom. The next eight teams feature seven currently seeded for the Western Conference playoffs. That other team is the surging Oklahoma City Thunder. On top of that, the Dallas Mavericks just traded for Rajon Rando (Spurs and Mavericks meet on December 20th).

Hosts Aaron Preine (@DukeOfBexar) and Jose Grijalva (@JRG1023) also look back at the wild finish between the Spurs and the visiting Memphis Grizzlies plus the insanity that is the Western Conference. Guest Benjamin Bornstein (@THE_BOOMSTEIN) of Project Spurs joins the fun.

Ginobili applauds James Harden’s ‘Eurostep’

San Antonio Spurs shooting guard and sixth man extraordinaire Manu Ginobili came into the league with his now-patented Eurostep and hasn’t looked back since. The part he had to get used to is people calling it the “Eurostep” because that was just another move for him, he wasn’t trying to make it “happen” or become […]

Kyle Anderson’s Recent Change of Events

San Antonio Spurs’ rookie Kyle Anderson may have just had a game that showed his compatibility in the NBA. A Tale of Overtime Periods: Spurs fall to Grizzlies in Triple-Overtime

AT&T CENTER – Wednesday, December 17th, wasn’t a playoff game. However, if you were in attendance, that’s what it felt like, as the San Antonio Spurs (17-9) fell to the Memphis Grizzlies (21-4) in triple overtime 117-116. Like a classical tale, this game had a classical plot. First, there were the Grizzlies, who had just […]

Streaking Spurs: Cotton, Green, Davis lead Austin to 8 straight

The D-League is rarely the picture of consistency as teams undergo major roster changes year after year. This year the Austin Toros became the Austin Spurs, and along the way, the team added several new players just as several players left the 512 area code. The AustinSpurs brought back very few players from last year’s […]
