Dissecting A Possession: Aldridge jumper off double screen vs. Heat

In the San Antonio Spurs’ 112-88 victory over the Miami Heat Wednesday, Spurs forward LaMarcus Aldridge displayed his versatility in being able to come off a double-screen almost like a shooting guard and knock down a mid-range jumper early in the first quarter.

As you watch the video below, you’ll see how the possession was set-up by San Antonio to get Aldridge the wide-open curl jumper in a more detailed explanation.

As previously written, with Aldridge becoming more comfortable in a Spurs uniform game-by-game, his shooting percentages from the mid-range and in the paint are continuing to be above league average from most areas on the floor. Not only can Aldridge make pick-and-pop jumpers, step-back jumpers or post-up turnaround jumpers, but as the video above showed, San Antonio can also run him off screens like a guard to get some open mid-range looks as well.
