One couldn’t have scripted a better end to former San Antonio Spurs center, and Hall of Famer, David Robinson’s NBA career with an NBA title in 2003. It was the perfect ending to an outstanding career for Robinson but according to him, going out on top is overrated.
Robinson was a guest on ESPN’s “Mike & Mike” where he touched on the topic.
“Keep doing it,” said Robinson. “I don’t care what everybody else says, you should’ve retired three years ago. Keep playing as long as you want.”
Now comes the question many Spurs fans are thinking – should Tim Duncan leave the game the same way as Robinson did? It would be a great storybook ending for Duncan (as it was for Robinson) but after all TD has done, does he need to prove himself with title No. 6?
And speaking of Duncan, here is what Robinson had to say about his former teammate.
