Bonner to re-sign with Spurs

Former San Antonio Spurs interactive content manager Ben Hunt wrote on  Twitter Sunday afternoon that free agent Matt Bonner was going to be coming back to re-sign with the Spurs.

Shortly after, Chris Ryan of ConcordNewsRadio.com confirmed that Bonner would be re-signing with the Spurs for the veteran minimum.

From there, Bonner himself confirmed to Mike Monroe of the San Antonio Express News through a text that he was going to rejoin the Spurs.

With Bonner back on the board, the Spurs’ roster will carry 14 guaranteed contracts. The NBA maximum limit by the opening day of the regular season is 15, so there’s still the option of bringing Aron Baynes back, leaving the spot open for Bryce Cotton if he makes the squad after training camp, or bringing in an outside free agent.

Since Bonner’s been in the NBA for 10 years, the veteran minimum he would earn is roughly $1.5 million.
