Spurs sign Shannon Brown to 10-day contract, release Jeffers

The San Antonio Spurs released Othyus Jeffers to sign Shannon Brown to a 10-day contract. Jeffers averaged 1.8 points and 1.5 rebounds in four games prior to his release.

Brown, a seven-year veteran, has played with the Suns, Lakers, Bobcats, Bulls and Cavaliers. He's averaging 8.1 points, two rebounds and 1.2 assists in 374 NBA games.
Brown is available for tonight's game against the Sacramento Kings. He will wear No. 1.
Brown's 10-day contract expires Feb. 11. The Spurs can sign him to a second 10-day deal, before having to guarantee his contract for this season.
Brown has played 87 percent of his minutes at shooting guard, according to Basketball Reference's advanced play-by-play data. He will fill in until Danny Green returns to the lineup.
