The San Antonio Spurs have a commanding lead on the Portland Trail Blazers up 2-0 after defending their home court in Games 1 and 2.
Now the scene shift to Portland for Game 3 and the Spurs know they have their work cut out for them. Especially Manu Ginobili.
In his recent entry for Argentinian site La Nueva, Ginobili flat out says the Spurs haven’t done anything special in the series with Portland. That all they have done is simply win at home and understands that winning on the road will be key.
“But the truth is that so far we only did what we had to achieve: win both games at home, nothing much less magical. Now we have to win on the road, to have a certain air.”
But playing in Portland will be a test. The crowd there is loud and the Blazers will be rejuvenated, ready to play tougher and with more passion.
“But it will not be easy. They will play better, going out on the court with a knife between their teeth.”
“And they are young. They’ll be dangerous, so you have to play well or better than in the first two games. It’s important to get a crucial win there. “
Portland plays their best basketball in the playoffs at home. The Trail Blazers own a .679 (74-35) record at home in the postseason. Moreover, Portland leads San Antonio 5-3 all time in the playoffs at home versus the Spurs.
But if any team that can buck historic treads are the Spurs. After getting a wake up call in the series versus the Mavericks, this team knows not to take any game for granted. They have regained their focus, and killer instinct.
They have beaten Portland by double digits in Game 1 and 2 and now it’ll be up to Portland to show they can defend home court.
