Spurs fans sound off on Game 5 vs. Mavs

By Madalyn Mendoza, Project Spurs.com

To our relief, game four ended with a tally in the “W” column for the boys in silver and black. But, not before heart palpitations and nausea plagued the bodies of those devoted to the Spurs Nation.

After a successful third quarter, in which the San Antonio Spurs led by 20 points, the Dallas Mavericks made it clear they were not going away easily and began to close in on the lead and take it for themselves as we watched in anguish.

Former Spur, DeJuan Blair, became a dominant force in the second half until he was ejected during the fourth quarter with the Mavs up by one for the now infamous kick to Tiago Splitter’s face.

Although the Spurs clinched game four, it was another down to the wire one, something Spurs fans were not looking forward to after witnessing Vince Carter’s 1.7 second three-pointer to win game four for the Mavs.

Most counted on this series being a cake walk for the Spurs, considering they were victorious in every game against the Mavericks during the regular season.

So, the Project Spurs team wanted to know how Spurs fans were feeling about the outcome of this series with tip-off just hours

We took to Twitter to ask why they believe the Spurs will continue to the next round of the NBA Playoffs.

Still nervous, confident, confused? Here is how some Spurs die hards sounded off:

“Spurs have yet to play a single game to their full potential. If they do that they win. I think they [will] finally do that tomorrow.” -@kramsta1

“They are the statistical favorite to win the whole entire thing. Plus, with a closing window for Tim, it’s now or never.” -@CrezyRezy

“Because game 5 is at home; because we haven’t really seen the second unit show up yet; because Manu.” – @saspursdynasty

“Patrick Mills. If he can give us 10-15 points off the bench and play some good D, it’ll be very helpful.” – @JeremyReichelt

“Key bench players stepped up in game 4. Combine that with the continual adjustments Pop makes each game and it should be a win.” – @JayP_Lugo

“They will win because of great coaching, great discipline, and great players. They had an incredible season and they are going all they way!” – @hashtag_gracy

It seems like everyone is counting on one of the best benches in the NBA to make their presence known tonight. Don your lucky Spurs shirt, sit in your lucky spot, gather your best Spurs friends for high-fives, and remember… “In Pop We Trust.”

What do you have to say Spurs fans about Game 5?
