Report: Spurs ownership close to taking over Talons

The San Antonio Talons of the Arena Football League (AFL) have until Saturday to find a new owner for the franchise, or else their future as a team could be in jeopardy.

Some positive luck might be headed the Talons’ way, as Don Harris of News4SanAntonio.com is reporting Spurs Sports and Entertainment  might be in the process of trying to acquire the team.

Sources have said that Spurs Sports and Entertainment is negotiating with the Arena Football League (AFL) to take over the San Antonio Talons.

Spurs Sports and Entertainment (SSE) already owns three sports franchises in San Antonio – the Spurs of the NBA, the Rampage of the American Hockey League, and the Stars of the WNBA.

Harris reports that there are still multiple obstacles to go through in order for SSE to purchase the Talons, but Wednesday at the AFL’s Board of Director’s meeting, the opportunity would be there for SSE to make the bid and see if the board from the AFL would vote for SSE to take over ownership of the team.
