According to Sportando.com, Davis Bertans, whom the San Antonio Spurs hold his NBA draft rights, is close to agreeing to a three-year deal with the Spanish club Laboral Kutxa Vitoria.
Though the contract would be for three years in length, Sportando indicates there will be an NBA-out clause for Bertans. The report also indicates the Spurs asked for Bertans to be put with Marco Crespi, who it seems will be coaching Baskonia this coming season, to work on his development.
Bertans, 21, just came off a season where he averaged 12.5 points and shot 43.5% from 3-point range with Partizan Belgrade per Euroleague.net.
Spurs draftee Adam Hanga also currently plays for Saski Baskonia, which means two of the Spurs’ draftees would be on the same team if Bertans indeed signs with Baskonia. With both players on the same team, it would allow San Antonio to monitor them more closely.
