Saturday, NoticiasDeAlava.com (via Sportando.com) reported San Antonio Spurs draftee Adam Hanga was close to inking a deal with the Italian club Sidigas Avellino (S.S. Felice Scandone), as part of a loan from his current team Laboral Kutxa Vitoria (Saski Baskonia) in Spain.
According to the report from Noticias De Alava, Baskonia was searching for a team to take Hanga’s contract in whole for the upcoming season, and Avellino ended up being that team. The report also states Baskonia was willing to unload Hanga both due to financial constraints and due to the lack of progress in Hanga’s individual game the team was initially looking for by this point in his career.
After the report came out, Hanga’s agent, Giorgos Dimitropuolos, took to Twitter to say the report of Hanga being loaned to Sidigas Avellino was false.
Reports of Hanga close to be loaned to any club are completely false as of today. We have not even discussed with Avellino or anyone

Until the situation clears up, at the moment it seems like Hanga will still be wearing a Baskonia jersey (as neither team has made an official announcement). However, if he were to head to Avellino on loan, it would likely ruin the possibility of he and Davis Bertans playing together in this coming season with Baskonia, since Bertans just recently signed with the team.
Project Spurs will continue to monitor Hanga’s situation overseas.
