San Antonio Spurs’ Kawhi Leonard will take part in an exhibition game against the Philippine national men’s basketball team as a tune up for Team Philippine before the 2014 FIBA World Cup tournament later this summer in Spain.
Leonard will be joined by other NBA stars such as Blake Griffin, Damian Lillard, Paul Pierce, Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan for the July 22 to 23 games at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Manila.
“This is a fitting send-off for Gilas as they defend the Philippine flag at the 2014 FIBA World Cup. This is our grand comeback to the world stage, so having a special pick-up game with a powerhouse cast of players will definitely rally the spirits of Filipinos and inspire the boys to play harder,” [Philippine head coach Chot] Reyes said.
Keep in mind, Leonard will also be taking part in the Team USA mini camp this summer in Las Vegas.
