Not only did San Antonio Spurs’ Tim Duncan set a new NBA record for most career double-doubles (158) in playoff history passing former Lakers guard Magic Johnson, he also broke former Lakers center Kareem Abdul Jabbar’s record for the most minutes played in the NBA Finals.
Going into Game 4, Kareem was the all-time leader with 8,851 minutes. Duncan needed 13 minutes and broke it well into Game 4.
Kareem offered his congratulations to No. 21 showing class in the process.
Congrats to #TimDuncan on passing me for the most minutes played in the NBA Finals – I appreciate the fact that you did it with class!
