The 24 year-old Spurs draftee (2011/59th overall) Adam Hanga is now trying to get back in his top form after a really hard period of 8 months full of injuries and setbacks. After the Hungarian G/F had to have a surgery due to his meniscus tear, he was forced to sit out two more months with bone edema, as a result, he could only play his first game as a member of the Euroleague's Laboral Kutxa on the 6th of December. Unfortunately, shortly after his debut, Hanga had to miss another week because of a minor injury to his leg (inflammation), what is more, he has just returned to action on Sunday after missing last week's Euroleague action because of a minor thigh injury.
However he hadn't been able to put up at least 10 consecutive games without sitting out one, the 6'6" tall Hungarian high-flyer has already made his mark in Europe's top competition, Euroleague as he showed some rim-rocking slams and huge blocks, more of them were among the weekly Top 10 of the Euroleague. He also appeared in the Euroleague Weekly Show two weeks ago, in which his backgrounds were introduced.
Just to mention his stats, Hanga averages 6 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1 assist and 0.6 steal in the Spanish Liga Endesa (8 games) and he posts 4.5 points, 1.7 boards, 1.2 dimes and 0.7 block in the Euroleague after 6 contests. Although his numbers do not show any extras, but he has already had some quite promising games in the Spanish First League. His season high is 13 points, but he has netted 11 twice. On 29th December, he won the game for Laboral Kutxa as 9 of his 13 points came in the 4th quarter against Obradoiro and ha also made some huge plays just before the finish.
Hanga came from the bench in each of his games played, his average playing time is around 15 minutes in both leagues, but he is gaining not only more and more minutes, but also a bigger role step by step.
It can be seen that he has a room for improving his role inside his team, which is coached by Sergio Scariolo, the former HC of the Olympic silver medalist and Eurobasket winner Spanish National Team. Laboral Kutxa is already among the 16 best teams of Europe and has a real chance to make it to the last 8, so Hanga will be capable of showing his talents among the elite clubs of basketball outside the NBA.
The question of the next two months will be the following: will he be able to stay healthy and to take his influence to the next level at the same time? If yes, he can get some quality experience before the last months of the season in which he will be able to have a chance to make his mark not only in the highlights, but also in the headlines of European basketball elite.
