Ginobili to play for Argentina at FIBA World Cup this summer

On Tuesday, San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili said he would make his decision to play or to rest this summer for FIBA play for Argentina.

It seems Ginobili will represent his home country at the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain, as he announced on Twitter.

It seems Manu will be coming into next season’s training camp with much more miles on his already old legs.

At his age, and the fact he just finished a very long 2013-14 NBA season which ended in the Spurs winning the NBA title, this may not sit well with Spurs fans.

Some will point to the fact he needs rest especially if the Spurs want to do something the franchise has never done – win back-to-back titles.

Manu is 36 years old and is entering the twilight of his pro-career.

The allure of representing his home country is strong with him so it is not such a shock he will suit up to play for Team Argentina in Spain this summer.

Of course all eyes will be on his health next season. If he begins to break down, many will look to the fact he didn’t rest in the offseason.

Leave your thoughts Spurs fans on Manu’s decision to play over the summer.
