FIBA exhibitions: Brazil & Splitter defeat Slovenia; Baynes, Australia rout Finland

After suffering back-to-back losses in international friendly matches, San Antonio Spurs center Tiago Splitter and the Brazilian National team got back on the winning side of play Friday, with a close 88-84 overtime victory over Slovenia.

Splitter finished the game with a strong 18 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while Cleveland Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao helped in the frontcourt for Brazil with 16 points, four rebounds, and three assists.

Over in Strasbourg, France Friday, Spurs free agent center Aron Baynes and the Australian National team routed Finland 80-57 in a friendly match. Baynes scored 13 points, grabbed six rebounds, and threw three assists in 22 minutes of play. Utah Jazz rookie Dante Exum played in 20 minutes off the bench, as he collected four rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

Brazil will stay in Slovenia Saturday as they’ll take on Iran in exhibition play. Meanwhile, Boris Diaw and the French National team will face Finland Saturday in Strasbourg.
