Ettore Messina Officially Joins Spurs Coaching Staff

As it was widely speculated during the 2014 NBA Finals, Ettore Messina has now officially been hired by the San Antonio Spurs as an assistant coach, the team and Adrian Wojnarowski have announced.

Messina is widely regarded as one of the best European coaches. As a four-time Euroleague Champion and a two-time Euroleague Coach of the Year, Messina was widely regarded as one of the best European coaches. In 2008, he was named one of the 50 Greatest Euroleague Contributors. On top of all his Euroleague accomplishments, Messina has also been named the Italian League’s Best Coach on three separate occasions and served as the head coach of the men’s Italian National Team for four years.

In addition to Messina joining the staff, Spurs’ assistant Sean Marks will leave the bench and return to his role in the front office, according to a source.
