Duncan exercises player option for 2014-15 NBA Season

The San Antonio Spurs announced Monday afternoon forward Tim Duncan exercised his player option for the 2014-15 NBA Season, making this coming season, the 18th season of Duncan’s career.

Duncan will earn $10,361,446 for the 2014-15 season, per BasketballInsiders.com. Monday morning began with a report that mentioned Duncan was thinking about opting out of the contract, for a lengthier deal. However, by the afternoon, a separate report was made stating Duncan planned on opting into the final year of his contract.

The plan now is for Duncan to play out his 18th season, and next summer, either look at continue playing, or possibly retiring. Duncan will be 39 years old when this current deal ends next June, but he still posted a double-double in points and rebounds during the 2014 NBA Finals.
