Dreams come true as new Silver Dancers are chosen

A two week process of dancing, learning routines and stress levels rising, the 2014-2015 San Antonio Spurs Silver Dancers have been revealed. A mix of veterans and newcomers make up the squad and last Friday 16 young women had their dreams come true as they got the news they will be dancing for the 2014 NBA champions.

Making their Silver Dancers debut this season are: Ileah, Desiree, Taylor, Clarissa, Kelsey, Teresa, Mallory, Paige, Jaclyn, and Lauren. The veterans on this years team are Marissa, who will be making her return for a third time. With Brianna, Deborah, Lori, Natalie, and Wendy all returning for their second season.

What many people do not know is that being a Silver Dancer is about much more than just dancing. It is about being a role model for young girls. Knowing many of the girls who are on the dance teams for Spurs Sports & Entertainment, they have picked the right bunch.

Silver Dancers are also seen off the court as well. Last season they partnered up with Silver and Black Give Back and went out to several schools to promote healthy eating and exercise. They also take a trip in the Spurs RV to make several appearances throughout the season.

The amount of dedication and time they put into preparing for their audition is inspiring and after being told no kept trying until they achieved their dream is something to be admired. Being a Silver Dancer is about more than chaps, hair flicking and dancing. It is about being determined and showing young girls by working hard, they too can accomplish their goals.

You can see the 2014-15 Silver Dancers when the Spurs host Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday, October 28 at 7 p.m. inside the AT&T Center for their season opener.
