Triano aims for experience in Canada’s European exhibition matches

San Antonio Spurs guard Cory Joseph and the Canadian National team have begun an 11-game journey in Europe, as they will play exhibition matches against several countries.

Canada head coach Jay Triano aims for his team to gain some experience in those matches.

From durhamregion.com:

“We need to give these athletes international experience together as a team,” Triano said. “We are going to be playing 11 games, six of those teams on their home soil. It’s going to be a hostile environment and that is a great way to learn.”

Joseph is coming off a season that saw the San Antonio Spurs win their fifth NBA championship and him collecting his first ring of this young career.

The former Texas Longhorn was born in Canada before moving to Texas to attend college. Joseph went to Europe with the Canadian National Team for exhibition play from July 24 to August 12.
