Tim Hardaway, Jr. works out with the Spurs

Tim Hardaway, Jr.The San Antonio Spurs continue to workout players for the upcoming NBA Draft.  We told you Wednesday about Syracuse sharpshooter James Sutherland's impending workout with the Western Conference Champs.  Now we're finding out the Spurs recently brought in another wing, Tim Hardaway, Jr., for a workout.

Nick Baumgardner of MLive.com reported earlier this month that Spurs interviewed Hardaway, Jr. at the Chicago Draft Combine and brought him in the following week for a workout.  Hardaway, Jr. is 6'6" and can shoot the lights out.  According to ESPN's Chad Ford, the Michigan two guard lit up the combine and as a result is looking more and more like a first round pick as opposed to a mid-late second round pick he was projected as a month ago.  He's currently ranked number 32 on Ford's Big Board and 31 on DraftExpress'.

Hardaway's two best assets are his ability to score and the fact that he can play (and defend) both wing positions.  Both of those traits seem to be the running theme of the players the Spurs have worked out that we know about.  We know they've worked out Reggie Bullock from North Carolina, Hardaway, Sutherland and that they interviewed Glen Rice, Jr. at the combine.  Drafting any of these guys would give them a Kawhi Leonard back up, which they definitely need, and would also allow them to pair them next to Leonard and Danny Green should the Spurs choose to go small.  I think it's a great strategy as the Spurs have shown a great ability to develop their wing players.

We'll keep sorting through the rumors to find out who else is being worked out by the Silver and Black and should have some sort of mock draft/who the Spurs should draft in the coming weeks (probably once the Finals are over).
