Splitter named top Brazilian player in 2013

Tiago SplitterSan Antonio Spurs big man Tiago Splitter was recently named Brazil's best basketball player for 2013 by the Brazilian Basketball Confederation, according to the Tiago Splitter Brasil website.

Splitter will be honored in a ceremony on December 13.

"I feel very happy to receive this award is to recognize me because of my work.I had to sweat a lot, but it sure was worth the effort. It also serves as a personal incentive to keep improving and reaching new achievements, "said Splitter, elected by a panel of journalists, leaders, former athletes and sports personalities.

Splitter is currently averaging 8.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game for the Spurs. Last week, Splitter had a season high 17 points to go along with seven rebounds and one block in a win against the Memphis Grizzlies.
