The San Antonio Spurs have a knack at finding NBA talent overseas and it appears the team has eyes on another foreign basketball talent.
According to Eurohoops.net, the Blazers may be looking to trade Greek forward Kostas Papanikolaou of Olympiacos and the Spurs are interested in acquiring his rights among other teams.
So there is a strong chance that the Blazers will trade his rights and many teams has shown interest. Spurs and Mavericks are among them, as well as the Knicks who drafted Papanikolaou on No48 of last year’s draft.
According to the report, Papanikolaou won this year’s “Rising Star" award and is considered the best Euro prospect to land in the NBA.
Papanikolaou is a 6'9" forward, who is averaging 10 points, 2 assists, 4.1 assists, and shooting 71.3% from the field in 21.5 minutes for Olympiacos. In the Euroleague, he averaged 8.7 points, 1.4 assists, 4.4 rebounds, and shooting 47.3% from the field in 31 games.
