Ginobili named ‘Tweeter of the Year’

San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili has been one to embrace social media early on, and utilize it to be able to deliver his own message.

This apparently was not lost on NBA fans who voted in Hoopshype's Tweeter of the Year voting. Ginobili won in a landslide with over 18,000 points and 520 #1 votes, over 400 votes over second place finisher Kobe Bryant.

While it's far from an all-star nod or sixth man award, the recognition is fitting. Ginobili has participated in a Reddit AMA, posts photos frequently to twitpic and has over 4,000 twitter updates, many of which are tweeted in English and Spanish.

Recently he broke the news that his wife was pregnant with the couple's third child, and he even tweeted a photo with Tiago Splitter, Boris Diaw and Patty Mills in a boy band pose after walking back from dinner in Philadelphia.
