San Antonio Spurs’ Tiago Splitter and Spanish team Valencia Basket handed Lukoil Academic Sofia their first lost of the 2011 Eurocup winning 72-64 behind another solid performance by Splitter.
Splitter notched 9 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, shot 4-11 from the field in 29 minutes in what probably was one of the remaining games he will play in for Valencia now that the NBA lockout is all but over.
Spurs draftee Nando De Colo finished with 8 points, 1 block, in 22 minutes for Valencia.
Beating Lukoil marks Valencia’s second win at the Eurocup and will next play Real Madrid.
As reported earlier this week, Splitter has said he will remain with Valencia until the official end of the lockout.
“Not up to me when I return. I’m having a great time and there are still a few days, seven, ten or fifteen to enjoy and win games.”
“[I]t is good for all players because we want to play in the NBA but still do not know what the agreement and must have a series of procedures to start all that I do not know how they are going.”
“I want to enjoy and win in my last days with Valencia.”
