San Antonio Spurs draftee Erazem Lorbek gave Slovenia just the extra edge they needed to get past Finland today and into the Eurobasket quarterfinals.
Lorbek has been consistent in the post for Slovenia through eight games, but led Slovenia in scoring today with 14 points along with six rebounds and two assists in 31 minutes.
Finland made a run at Slovenia in the second half, getting within six points before Lorbek chipped in six consecutive points to give Slovenia the final lead and eventual 67-60 win.
Through eight games, Lorbek is averaging 11.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
Slovenia has a huge challenge ahead as they play Spain on Wednesday as Eurobasket moves to Kaunas. Spurs fans will be able to get a good look at how Lorbek would perform against NBA centers. He’ll likely spend some time defending both Gasol brothers.
